Our People
We employ over 1,400 people; over 600 of whom are in our head office in Cambridge; 300 in our Midlands based offices and others based in regional offices both in the UK and Internationally.
As well as being highly qualified, a high proportion of our people are from the teaching profession and have the practical experience to understand the demands placed on the people delivering our qualifications.

Simon Lebus

Simon Lebus
Chief Executive of Cambridge Assessment and Chairman of OCR
Simon Lebus was appointed Group Chief Executive of Cambridge Assessment on 1st July 2002. He became Chairman of OCR in 2004.
A Bye-Fellow of Emmanuel College, Simon has spent his career operating in complex and competitive business environments, where the drive for excellence and quality, good teamwork and the need for continuous improvement are essential for success. These are all characteristics that have made Cambridge Assessment a world leader in educational assessment.
Simon came to Cambridge Assessment from the food industry where he had worked since 1989 in a variety of senior managements roles. Prior to that, he spent eight years in the City as an investment banker involved in both corporate finance advisory and capital markets work.
Simon was a scholar at St John's College, Oxford, where he obtained a first in Modern History before going on to St Antony's College, Oxford, where he spent three years doing research on Modern English Philanthropy.
Simon is also on the Board of the University Education Faculty and is a member of the Management Committee of the Cambridge University Centre for Applied Research in Educational Technologies.
Ann Puntis

Ann Puntis
Chief Executive of University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE)
Ann Puntis was appointed Chief Executive of University of Cambridge International Examinations in November 2005.
Ann has extensive experience in education and assessment. She obtained First Class Honours at Cardiff University and proceeded to research at the University of Oxford. She also obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Education at Cambridge University and subsequently obtained an MBA.
She has worked as a teacher in secondary education, as a Principal and as a policy maker in national education.
Ann joined CIE in 1997 and has worked in a number of areas developing assessments and services prior to becoming Chief Executive. She obtained her MBA in 2000.
Dr Mike Milanovic

Dr Mike Milanovic
Chief Executive of Cambridge ESOL
Michael Milanovic joined UCLES in 1989 and in May 2003 he was appointed Chief Executive of Cambridge ESOL.
He is the Manager of the Association of Language Testers in Europe ( ALTE ) and co-editor of Studies in Language Testing published by Cambridge University Press. Michael has been involved in language education and assessment since 1977 and has an M.A. in Applied Linguistics and a Ph.D. in the same field focusing on performance-based assessment.
Greg Watson

Greg Watson
Chief Executive of Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examinations (OCR)
Greg Watson became Chief Executive of OCR in May 2004. He joined OCR just after its formation in 1998, and spent three years as its first Marketing & Sales Director, before becoming Managing Director and Deputy Chief Executive in 2001.
Greg also sits on the Chief Executives' Forum of the Joint Council for Qualifications, the umbrella organisation for the UK's major awarding bodies.
Greg graduated in Modern and Mediaeval Languages from Queens' College, Cambridge, in 1987. He worked for 10 years in the Shell Group, in a variety of marketing and business development roles across retail and business-to-business sectors. He was also involved there in IT systems development, logistics, quality management and process improvement.
Tim Oates

Tim Oates
Group Director Of Assessment Research and Development
Tim Oates joined Cambridge Assessment in May 2006 to spearhead the rapidly growing Assessment Research and Development division. He was previously at the Qualifications and Curriculum Agency (QCA), where he had been Head of Research and Statistics for most of the last decade.
Work included advising on a pan-European 8-level qualifications framework. He has advised the UK Government for many years on both practical matters and assessment policy.
He started his career as a research officer at the University of Surrey. He moved to the FE Staff College in 1987 where he helped run the Work-Based Learning project. London University's Institute of Education then appointed him as NCVQ Research Fellow. In 1993 he joined one of the QCA's predecessor bodies, the National Council for Vocational Qualifications, as Head of GNVQ Research and Development. Promotion to Director of Research followed two years later.

The Syndicate
A Syndicate, appointed by the University, oversees our activities and reviews the policies and business plans put forward by the Group Chief Executive and other senior managers who form the Corporate Board. The Corporate Board is responsible for the implementation of policies and business plans approved by the Syndicate and for day to day management of Cambridge Assessment.
