Opportunities for Development
We actively encourage everyone to adopt a lifelong learning philosophy through continuous professional development as we believe that this is how we can all achieve our potential. To this end we provide access to a range of learning & development options, both in-house and external, including the achievement of further qualifications, where appropriate.
Family Related
Having a Baby
We recognise that childbirth is a special time. After the birth of your baby, we will send you £50 in gift vouchers. We also provide enhanced maternity and paternity pay arrangements for all employees with more than one year’s service.
Adopting a child
We realise that adopting a child is a big commitment and, in addition to the £50 gift vouchers mentioned above, we provide enhanced adoption pay arrangements in line with those for maternity and paternity.
Help with Childcare
Across Cambridge Assessment we operate a Childcare Voucher Scheme to help with childcare costs (subject to a minimum six month contract). This scheme operates as a salary sacrifice scheme which provides income tax and national insurance savings for the participants.
In addition to the voucher scheme, as Cambridge Assessment is part of Cambridge University our Cambridge based employees have access to the two University Day Nurseries for pre-school children. For school age children up to 14 years, there is the University Holiday Play Scheme. Both these provide quality childcare at reasonable cost. For more information visit http://www.cam.ac.uk/cambuniv/childcare/.
Help with Travel Arrangements
We offer an interest free Season Ticket Loan for the purchase of a season ticket for rail or bus travel, subject to contract and length of service.
During periods throughout the year we offer a Salary Sacrifice Bike Scheme, where you can have a bicycle and cycling safety equipment in exchange for payments through salary sacrifice, saving income tax and national insurance.
We also provide access to a Car Sharing Scheme where you can identify people with whom you can share your car journey to work to reduce personal travel costs and make a contribution to the environment.
In addition to the above we provide limited Car Parking. As access to car parking in Cambridge is very limited we operate a waiting list with permits allocated based on service with Cambridge Assessment. Car parking at other sites is more easily available. Extensive cycle parking is available at all sites.
Access to Leisure Facilities
We subsidise Social Events during the year, ranging from shopping and theatre trips, through weekends away and country walks, to Christmas festivities. These are organised by Staff Social Events Committees in Cambridge and the Midlands.
We also operate a range of Gym discounts; if you work in Cambridge, you can join the University Fitness Suite at Fenners for an annual fee of £55. Corporate membership rates are also available at other leisure centres and gyms in both Cambridge and Coventry.
In addition to the above we can use two cards which are available because of our association with the University. These are the University Centre Card which gives access to the University Centre and its facilities www.unicen.cam.ac.uk, and the Cambridge University Card which, for a small cost, gives access to a number of other university facilities. Both cards give entitlement to a number of discounts with local businesses. For employees based in Cambridge there is also access to the Cambridge Card (Local Secrets Card) which, in addition to a range of discounts, allows you to collect points at participating shops and restaurants which can then be redeemed at any one of them.
Health Care
We offer a number of health related benefits to help you meet your personal health priorities. The Health Care Scheme Cash Plan (BHSF) gives protection against the costs of health care such as dental or optical treatment through making regular fixed payments across the year. You can access this scheme at reduced premiums to those generally available. Also everyone has the opportunity to benefit from private medical cover from BUPA at a significant discount.
In addition to this, we recognise that a significant number of our employees use display screen equipment for a large amount of their normal work and we therefore provide Eye Care Vouchers for both eye tests and as a contribution to the cost of glasses where these are needed for work related activity.
We also provide access to confidential Professional Counselling Services through Right CoreCare. This free service provides of a range of information and advice on emotional, legal, health or debt issues via a confidential helpline, together with access, where appropriate, to face-to-face counselling services.
Pensions and Retirement
We operate two final salary pension schemes, providing options on retirement for each person depending on their personal circumstances. Pre-retirement seminars are available to assist with retirement planning.
Other Cambridge Assessment Benefits
In addition to the benefits detailed above we also offer the following:
- Holiday entitlement of 28 days per year, in addition to statutory days
- Recognition of loyalty to Cambridge Assessment through service related gifts and increases to holiday
- Subsidised Canteen and free hot and cold drinks in all of our main locations
