BETT launch for dynamic ‘assessment for learning’ system
Cambridge Assessment and leading educational publisher Harcourt Education will launch achieve, an online ‘assessment for learning’ system that supports teachers in the implementation of formative assessment at key stage 3, at BETT on Thursday 12 January 2006.
Test results can be viewed online instantly, providing pupils and teachers with instant feedback on strengths and weaknesses - for individual students and groups. A vast array of diagnostic reporting can be carried out at the click of a button to allow performance and progress to be monitored over time. achieve is the first interactive online assessment product to offer detailed teaching plans to help improve students’ performance.
Matthew Haigh, Project Manager, Cambridge Assessment, said: “achieve is one of many projects being created and developed by Cambridge Assessment that positively enhance learning through assessment. An engaging and informative programme, achieve will increase motivation levels and connect students with their own learning.
The programme helps reduces the amount of time that teachers spend on marking and analysing results, while enabling them to meet the increasing demands for reporting on performance.”
achieve focuses on the core Key Stage 3 subjects: Maths, Science and English. The programme comprises flexible assessments that enable teachers to set a wide range of tasks and tests covering all the National Curriculum attainment targets.
Teachers can select either formal tests, to be taken under supervision in the classroom, or informal tests that can be set as homework. Each test is tailored by the teacher or the system to suit the entire class or individual pupils, ensuring everyone works at the appropriate level.
You are invited to find out more and see achieve in action at the launch reception, 11.30am on Thursday 12 January 2006 on stand Y10 at BETT 2006.
achieve is currently being piloted in secondary schools and will be available to primary schools from January 2007.
