Mastering assessment
A new MEd course aimed at those with an interest in developing their understanding and expertise in assessment in education is being introduced in October 2010.
The ‘Assessment in Education’ focused Masters in Education is a collaboration between Cambridge University’s international exams group, Cambridge Assessment, and its Faculty of Education. The course will enable participants to bring a balanced, informed and critical perspective to assessment debates and to influence practice and policy in their institutions and beyond for the ultimate benefit of learners.
Paul Newton, Cambridge Assessment Network Director, said: “The principles, concepts and issues explored on the route are relevant to all forms of assessment in education – from classroom interaction, to school examining, to vocational certification – and are equally applicable across contexts and phases of education.
“We’re delighted to join with colleagues at the Faculty of Education – it represents a unique blend of practicality and high level academia.”
The Assessment in Education focused Masters in Education is suitable for assessment professionals within awarding bodies, teachers and lecturers in all sectors, those with specific responsibility for assessment practice and development, as well as researchers, policy makers and administrators with a particular remit for assessment.
