The archives are predominantly those of the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES) and include:
- Annual Reports and Statistics
- Executive and major committee records from 1874 onwards
- Examination administration material from c 1860s to 1940s
- Examination Publications from c.1876 onwards for UK and International Examinations, and from 1913 for EFL/ESOL examinations. These include syllabuses, question papers and examiners reports
- Overseas development records
- Internal research papers from 1962 to 2000
- Lists of successful examination candidates up to 1950
