International Medical Admissions Test (IMAT)

Cambridge Assessment in partnership with the Italian Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MIUR).

Introduction

Italian Universities, with the Italian Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MIUR), are currently offering undergraduate courses that are taught in English and open to applicants outside of Italy. The Universities of Rome La Sapienza, Milan and Pavia are offering a number of places for both home and overseas students to study medicine as part of this initiative. For further information (in Italian) follow this link to read the ministerial decree signed by Mariastella Gelmini, the Italian Minister of Education; http://attiministeriali.miur.it/anno-2011/luglio/dm-07072011.aspx

Applicants for the existing courses taught in Italian, currently take an Italian admissions test (developed by the Italian Commission), with the available places awarded to those scoring highest on the test.

MIUR has asked Cambridge Assessment’s Admissions Tests and Special Testing Division to develop and deliver the English language equivalent of this Italian admissions test, with the first live test being delivered on 9th September 2011.

Candidates wishing to study at Milan, Rome La Sapienza, or Pavia should follow the links below to register for the test and choose their test centre in Italy or the UK.

Publication of the test paper and requests for review of an item

Candidates wishing to request that a test item be reviewed should email imat@cambridgeassessment.org.uk and quote their unique ID as evidence that they are legitimate IMAT candidates.

Cambridge Assessment will not be able to change candidates' results once results have been published and can accept no liability if candidates have not registered their request for a review of a test item.

In line with the Italian version of the test, candidates may still contest items after the above date. However, as stated, no changes to results will be made and no liability accepted once results have been published.

Results Enquiries and Appeals

Other than the above requests for review of an item, Cambridge Assessment will not offer a results or appeals procedure for IMAT.
