Launch of the Cambridge Mathematics Framework

Date: 11 Mar 2015 Venue: British Library 96 Euston Road London NW1 2DB
Type: Conference Fee: Free of charge

In May 2013 Cambridge Assessment chaired a debate on maths education. The challenging focus for that debate was how to ensure that all students, across all phases, experience an appropriate mathematics education.

Since then maths education experts from across the University of Cambridge, including Cambridge Assessment, the Faculties of Education and Mathematics and Cambridge University Press, have begun working together to think about that question. We are designing a global mathematics programme called Cambridge Mathematics which will contribute to answering it.

The vision of Cambridge Mathematics is to secure a world class mathematics education for students from 5 to 19 years, applicable to both international and national contexts and based on evidence from national and international research and practice. It will comprise a framework which maps mathematics across the domains and phases, linked assessments, supportive teaching and learning resources and a professional development portfolio.

The official launch of this exciting initiative took place at the British Library on Wednesday 11 March 2015 and saw the start of a global consultation process on the Cambridge Mathematics Framework in which we are inviting feedback from the maths education community both internationally and from within the UK.

Coverage of each of the conference sessions and copies of the speakers presentation slides can be found below.
