Global e-assessment event comes to Cambridge

Cambridge rooftops in the sunlight

Cambridge University Press & Assessment is pleased to host global e-assessment practitioners for the Flip+ annual conference.

Taking place in person on June 8 and 9, this two-day gathering will bring together education and assessment professionals from around the world to share their e-assessment experiences and expertise, learn from others, and engage in meaningful discussions on the latest developments in the field.

This year's event will be hosted at the Cambridge, UK headquarters of institutional members Cambridge University Press & Assessment in partnership with the Digital Education Futures Initiative (DEFI). This will continue the work of the Cambridge Digital Assessment Programme on developing computer-based assessments, and contribute to the organisations other work and research projects.

Sarah Hughes, Research and Thought Leadership Lead in the Digital Assessment Team at Cambridge said:

I left my first FLIP+ Annual Event enthused, inspired and feeling strongly connected with the FLIP+ community.  The openness about sharing e-assessment experiences was fascinating and refreshing. I started working in assessment 30 years ago and this was the best event I have ever attended, so much so that when it was suggested that Cambridge host the event this year, we grasped the chance to support this valuable community of practice.”

The FLIP+ community, founded in 2019 as a non-profit association, aims to address the opportunities, challenges, and solutions in the transition from paper-based to computer-based assessments.

The association began with educational bodies from France, Luxembourg, Italy, and Portugal (hence the acronym FLIP+), and has continued to grow its influence. Through ongoing and successful collaboration, the association has now spread its network worldwide with institutional members in Europe, Asia, and North and South America.

Sharing is at the core of the FLIP+ community, with the aim of the conference being to contribute a digital strategy which will support members in their delivery and transition to e-assessment.

Throughout the two-day conference, participants will partake in member workshops and presentations, in areas such as Digital Transformation and AI and Computational Methods.

The FLIP+ Annual Event will also include institutional experiences on e-assessment developments, networking opportunities, updates on FLIP+ working group activities, and an opportunity to explore various technology tools and solutions - including information on their international item library.

If you are interested in joining FLIP+ to support your e-assessment strategy, you can join as a member.
