Cambridge Assessment's response to Michael Gove's comments on ending political control of A Levels

02 March 2010

We welcome any proposals to remove political intervention and instead to empower experts in education, such as exam boards and Higher Education.

"Cambridge Assessment has for a long time believed that education should not be hindered by unnecessary regulation and political interference. We therefore welcome any proposals to remove this kind of intervention and instead to empower experts in education, such as exam boards and Higher Education. Cambridge Assessment engages with over 100 individuals from Higher Education in our daily work, and as the only assessment group owned by a University, we are well placed to build on this work to ensure the formal engagement of the whole of HE with all exam boards."
