Cambridge Assessment welcomes International Education Strategy

29 July 2013

Cambridge Assessment welcomes the launch of the Government’s International Education Strategy: Global Growth and Prosperity.

Having exported high quality academic and English Language qualifications for the last 130 years we have long known the importance of this sector to the UK economy. The Group is committed to extending access to the benefits of a high-quality Cambridge Assessment education around the globe.

Through our exam boards Cambridge English Language Assessment and Cambridge International Examinations we are key education partners to governments, schools and colleges in over 170 countries.

Until now the true value of the sector; the expertise, the excellence within it and the respect in which it is held around the world has largely been overlooked. Today’s announcement by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills of its International Education Strategy recognises that excellence and the even greater potential of the sector for the UK economy. Cambridge Assessment welcomes the long term vision and plan and looks forward to working with the Government as it seeks to support exporters of education products and services.

English language qualifications, like those provided by Cambridge English, and qualifications like the IGCSE and International A Level, as provided by Cambridge International, hold the key to growing the sector in higher education, overseas schools and transnational education generally. It is pleasing to see this has been recognised in the strategy.
