Our archives support learners by providing a rich resource of information about the development of school exams and educational assessment. We’ve a broad history dating back to 1858, when we were known as the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES).
Throughout the years, what you now know as Cambridge Assessment has merged with other examination boards and you can also find insightful resources charting that history here.
We believe our extensive and diverse history is unique and invaluable, allowing us to better support our learners and inform leading-edge assessment design. We’re happy to be able to share over 160 years of knowledge and expertise with you.
