I am the Chief Customer Officer at risr/, bringing 25 years of experience across education, assessment and regulatory reform. My career actually started right here at Cambridge Assessment, or UCLES as it was then known in 2000, and my career has taken me into global curriculum transformation initiatives and leadership roles within UK awarding bodies, regulators and latterly the British Council with a strong focus on using technology to drive change in policy and practice.

In 2023 I pivoted to work directly in the EdTech sector enabling me to see life from the other side of our technology enabled assessment journey! I'm lucky to have worked right across the world and that has solidified my passion and ignited my desire to make assessment more effective and equitable, particularly addressing the issue of a widening 'digital divide'. Technology can absolutely be the answer to this challenge, but used/implemented incorrectly it could unfortunately widen it even more. I channel this passion into being a regular speaker and panellist at conferences on topics including technology enabled assessment, test security and learning and the rapidly evolving role of AI in assessment both from a practical and ethical perspective.

I volunteer extensively within the assessment sector where I currently serve as a Director and Chair of the Board of the Association of Test Publishers (ATP), Chair of the ATP Security Committee and a member of the ATP AI Committee. Connect with Paul on LinkedIn.
